Poker, BJJ, etc, HAWAII

Date: Tue, Aug 19, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

I guess I will partition this blog entry into the subjects listed above.

Poker hasnt been going so great. Ive put in a ton of hours this month and have no results at all. Im probably down slightly in the online mtts ive played which is no great surprise and is not the least bit upsetting considering the variance, but cash has been pretty frustrating. I've played 30k hands this month of 2/4 and am basically even within a buyin either way. It's definitely the longest breakeven stretch ive had buyin wise in a long long time. Ive had bigger break even stretches money wise but usually that happens when i lose at 25/50+ and win it back at 10/20 and lower. It's ok because of the rakeback i am up about 15-20 buyins on the month which is nice, but definitely going to put in some work and figure out whats going wrong with my game. I've gone through a lot of hands and have made some mistakes but not an overwhelming number of them so i assume im running under expectation and not playing my best. Here is one gem that i have to share:

Basically put him on AAh or KKh and thought with K hitting that it looked like he wouldnt fold so i shoved thinking he would think i put him on top set. either way love how he played it and just shat on my soul.

Anyway I feel good about it and im confident ill put in a good month and finish out strong. It's nice playing 2/4 cause i can play a lot of tables, never feel stressed and can get creative sometimes and try stuff out on some pretty good regulars. I dont have a lot online right now because i added a couple new horses and shipped out a lot of money in the past 3 weeks, so i only have like 40-50k online spread between a lot of sites which in my opinion is almost a good thing because it forces me to really put in a lot of hours and grind.

I spent the last weekend up at thorladens house with him and Roman. it was great and felt like i got a lot out of the weekend even though we didnt put up any results. we had some close calls like roman getting final 3 tables in the ftops 2500 and some deep finishes in the big rebuys. Those guys had a great week/weekend in cash and i stunk it up but its ok i got a lot out of watching them play the 10/20 25/50 and 100/200 games on stars and feel like my A game is coming back into form. I really like grinding up at thors house except for Archie the cat puking on my backpack and either of his dogs Luther or Zeke waking me up every morning with a nose in my face.

BJJ is going pretty well. I have been going 2 or 3 times a week to my new place. I have been trying to go to the 2 beginner classes each week and an advanced class every other week. The beginner classes focus on technique and position while the advanced classes work more on some submissions and rolling. I feel confident rolling with most people but i just have the worst endurance of all time.

Last advanced class i took i rolled with this kid chris who i am a better athlete than but he has been doing it for about a year to 18 months so he has a bunch more experience. anyway i passed his guard in about 35-40 seconds, got into mount and realized i didnt know many subs from up top. i didnt want to give up the position and go for an armbar or anything so i kept futily trying to go for a keylock (pictured below) and trying to take his back whenever he turned to try and escape.

keylock: http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/submissionskeylock.jpg

we were up against the wall and we stopped and restarted and by this point i was pretty winded so we started rolling again, but this time i had him in my guard. i threw a triangle (pictured below as well) pretty fast but i couldnt close it because of my lack of flexibility so i just kept trying to bend my legs into the right position to land it but just winded myself even faster. eventually i was just panting and tired and he passed my guard and keylocked me cause i was so exhausted lol. i assume my endurance will improve pretty quickly as i roll more and more.

triangle: http://www.mmafury.tv/PICT0068.jpg

finally, i am going to HAWAII next month for pretty much all of september. Martine, roman, ozzy, smokey, bush a couple others and myself are going to be renting a place in Kauai from september 2 to 23. Here are some pictures of the place:

I am really excited to be there all month. I need to find a BJJ place to train all month cause i dont think i can go 3 weeks without doing any jiu jitsu. I would really love to go to bj penns place but apparently hilo is on the other side of the island so i cant do that, i guess ill just try and find a local place where i can roll a couple times a week.

thats it for now. take it easy guys, ill post some updates after i play another 20k hands or so.

Chicago/Lollapalooza

Date: Thu, Aug 7, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

So last thursday i left for chicago to go see Lollapalooza. I got into chicago mid afternoon and hung out with a friend on thursday night before getting back into the city to meet up with randallin, zugwat, luckychewy and timex on friday for the concerts.

On friday August 1st we went in around 4:00 or so. It was a really really hot day and I being an idiot wore jeans so i was sweating my ass off. the first band we saw was the black keys. They were pretty cool. It was a 2 guy band so they were missing a bass but they had a pretty chill relaxing sound. It's not a band i would go out of my way to see but they put me in a good place before the other concerts started.

When they finished up we walked across the park to the south side where bloc party was starting an hour later. We tried to inch in early because radiohead was coming on after bloc party and we wanted to get a good spot which was close to the stage. I knew a few bloc party songs from my alternative station on pandora and i liked those alright. if you havent heard of them, theyre a sort of punky british alternative band that sound sort of like a mixture between muse and daft punk (according to randal). Either way they put on a good show but the entire time all i could think about was radiohead coming on. They have been my favorite band forever and i couldnt wait to see them live.

There was an hour break between bloc party and radiohead where we basically jockeyed for a good position in the crowd and kept inching closer and more towards the center of the stage. Timex and i were trying to estimate how many people were on the field by the time the concert started and we decided on a range anywhere from 150-600k people. It was absolutely packed and we all saw the best show of our lives.

Here's their setlist:

01. 15 Step
02. Airbag
03. There There
04. All I Need
05. Nude
06. Arpeggi
07. The Gloaming
08. The National Anthem
09. Faust Arp
10. No Surprises
11. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
12. Reckoner
13. Lucky
14. The Bends
15. Everything In Its Right Place
16. Fake Plastic Trees
17. Bodysnatchers

Encore 1:
18. Videotape
19. Paranoid Android
20. Dollar and Cents
21. House of Cards
22. Optimistic

Encore 2:
23. 2+2=5
24. Idioteque

Check out some of the pictures randal took on his iphone:

I had always heard the radiohead light show was breathtaking but its something you really really have to be there to experience for yourself. Im sure the people reading this who have been to their concerts before are having old memories brought up by these pictures and for those who havent seen them, its a must!

Here are a few videos from the concert that you just have to see:

Everything in it's right place (how cool is it that the lights spell out the words to the song, too awesome):

Idioteque:

The Gloaming:

Overall it was definitely the best show ive ever seen. If i had any criticism at all of it, it would be that the piano was not prepped properly for "Videotape". It was way too bassed out and it lost the really beautiful piano sound that you are supposed to hear. I suppose it was because it was a festival and the piano was set up for everyone and at a radiohead only concert it would have been great. if you dont know the song, its one of my favorites of all time and i frequently use lines from it as my away message. heres what it should sound like live:

After radiohead we all felt like we were freerolling the weekend and were excited to see the other bands but definitely got our moneys worth from them alone.

On Saturday we were planning on getting it at 330 to go see MGMT but we couldnt get moving in time so we decided to go in at 430 to see Brand New, a sort of punky band from the 90s. They were definitely enjoyable. Luckily the 3 bands we were there to see were all playing on the AT&T stage on the south side of grant park so we didnt have to move around nearly as much.

There was an hour break after Brand New played and then Lupe Fiasco came on, one of the shows I was really looking forward to because I had never seen any hip hop artist perform live, and i was going to unfortunately miss Kanye on Sunday because he was overlapping with Nine Inch Nails, one of my favorite bands. Anyway, lupe put on a really good show but the crowd was sort of out of control during it. There was like a war with people just throwing stuff all over and the moshers were flying all over. I caught a kick to the head and got hit with a bunch of debris but it was a fun show to watch.

After Lupe, Rage Against the Machine was coming on. All of us decided that we didnt really want to be up close to see RATM because they incite a lot of anger and we thought it would get out of control, so we went to grab a bite to eat before heading back and finding a spot a few hundred yards away from the stage. They put on a good show but it was irritating because they kept stopping and telling people to take 5 or 6 steps back from the stage. Everyone was so tightly packed in this wasnt really even possible i dont know why the lead singer kept insisting the crowd try to do this, but regardless it was a really enjoyable show.

The next day involved a ton of walking. Of everyone we were with, only timex and i wanted to see NIN and everyone else was just gonna go to kanye. Mike and I headed over to grant park pretty early and we first checked out iron and wine who really mellowed us out before we saw the other bands. After that we walked all the way from the north end to the far south end to check out blues traveler who had a ton of familiar songs which was good in a way, except we were standing close to this really irritating couple who were shouting the words at the top of their lungs but i really liked the spot i was in so i didnt want to move.

After blues traveler we stayed in the area and saw gnarls barkley. I only know a couple of their songs but i really liked the show they put on. the spaced out the songs people knew well between songs they wanted to play but most people werent familiar with. They also did a really sick cover of Radiohead's song Reckoner that i felt bad clapping loudly for because it wasnt their song but they did such a good job with it i couldnt stop myself.

Then we went all the way back over to the north side to try to procure a good spot for NIN. Before NIN came on there was a band on the adjacent stage called The National that I really really liked but had never heard of before that day. THey sounded pretty similar to Interpol and i am going to check out a bunch of their stuff later. Heres a song worth checking out by them:

NIN put on a great show as expected. There was a lot of newer stuff that I wasnt too familiar with cause i havent bought his 2 newest albums (the instrumental one and the slip) but all the old stuff he played was great. Closer was great obviously, so was terrible lie, head like a hole, all the stuff from with teeth and everything else he played. My ex girlfriend lindsay and i always used to go nuts when "Only" came on the radio and trent (lead singer) delivered the extremely awkward "and it worked.....YES IT DID" line. I had a good laugh when they played that song.

At the end of the show, trent told us he was having some trouble keeping his voice but put on a really really really really great performance of his song "Hurt". Most of you guys probably know the version that was done by Johnny Cash after his wife died but i think trent's version is better.

After the festival we had an extra day to hang out in chicago. We got some tickets to a cubs game which was awesome cause i've wanted to go to Wrigley my entire life. We got some seats on the 3rd base side behind homeplate which were kind of obstructed by some poles but we had a roof over our heads which ended helping us out in the end.

The image “http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/cubs1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/cubs2.jpg

During the 6th inning a massive thunderstorm started and the game got delayed. After waiting a bit and deciding the storm was bad enough that we should try to head out, we left the stadium and tried to find cabs in the flooded streets. This was of course impossible because everyone else in the entire stadium was trying to do the same thing. Randal and I ended up walking about 6 or 7 blocks away in the pouring rain and lightning before we found an available cab. Overall was a fun experience.

Quick Update

Date: Wed, Jul 30, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

I've been bouncing around a lot lately. Since i have gotten home i am probably about even between tourneys, sngs and cash. I hadnt grinded cash in a while, was a little off my game and ran pretty horrendous when i first got home at 5/10 and 10/20 so i decided i am just going to grind at 2/4 for a while until i feel like my game has gotten back to its top point. so far im doing really well but im probably going to stick around and play about 50-100k hands at 2/4 before my confidence is fully back.

im also pretty short online right now which sucks. im on probably like a 15k downswing overall but i got a few new horses who are heroes and i shipped out a lot of money this past week so my stars and ftp bankrolls are kinda abysmal right now. no biggie, ill just buckle down and crush 2/4 for a while and ill be back pretty soon.

anyway i gotta get ready for chicago. im leaving tomorrow and have to set up my digital camera for the trip cause im definitely going to want to take a lot of pictures.

this will keep you occupied til then.....

29. 8.6 Memento (2000) 193,066
30. 8.6 Sunset Blvd. (1950) 37,315

Some of my favorite movies are on the top 30. LOTR, memento, the usual suspects, city of god, the godfather. I really did love the movie but i cant say i think it deserves to be #1. I could see it being top 20 on this list but #1 is a different story. One of my friends made the argument that especially since it isnt an original movie (the 1989 Michael Keaton Batman preceded it) it doesnt deserve such a high ranking. In either case i loved it and am glad to see it getting a lot of recognition for how good it was.

Anyway, i recently saw a little clip of a guy on facebook who did a joker impression that i thought was pretty amazing. I havent found a video on youtube of it anywhere so i cant embed it so youll just have to go to the site and check it out.

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=18817884731&oid=11019013366

Really impressive in my opinion. Anyway the tangent im about to go on doesnt really have to do much with batman, but more with the creative minds of poker players and where they can take.....WHY SO SERIOUS

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/CREEPYCAT.jpg

Creepy........

I'm not sure if you guys have heard but UB/AP is launching a new platform which they are calling CEREUS (an anagram for SECURE, GET IT???) that will basically be a combination of UB and AP. Anyway, the photoshop im about to show is pretty hilarious, and kinda mean to the party it pokes at but its ok we can all laugh at ourselves here and there.

Anyway im going to give you guys some space before i show it because it is creepy.

very creepy

VERY VERY CREEPY

VERY VERY VERY CREEPY

VERY VERY VERY CREEPY

DONT THINK YOU GUYS ARE QUITE READY FOR IT

YOU THINK YOURE READY?

NOPE, NOT YET YOURE NOT......

Apologies to annie duke who seems like a great lady, but this is just too funny for me not to post. Was pointed to this by Scott Freeman who found it lurking somewhere on pocketfives.

Anyway I really hope CEREUS turns out well cause its nice to have more than two networks to play on where there are good games and places you feel safe having money. I hope its as secure as they are designing and we are hoping it is.

What it means to be a baller

Date: Sat, Jul 26, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

aka being cole south

Cardunners put together a tournament for 8 of its pros called Heads up for Hawaii. It's basically an 8 man hu tournament where brian townsend, brian hastings, taylor, eric liu, raptor, cole, menlo and i play best of 3 hu 200bb freezeouts against each other and make some videos out of it. The winner of the tournament gets a trip to hawaii.

Anyway, my first round opponent is Cole so i emailed him trying to set a date to get together and have a match. A few days pass and i get this as a response:

Hey ryan

I've been in the south american jungle (venezuela) with no phone or
net, just picked up a signal in caracas. im in south america for
another week with no computer. back in usa on aug 5 but leaving for
hawaii w david and our gfs for aug 7 to 14. after that ill be nailed
down at home for a while. talk when im back in the states? not sure
when the deadline is

gl! have fun
cole

Pretty sick. I cant wait to see his blog to see some awesome pictures as I've always wanted to go to some places like that. So today i was talking to martine and he wants to take a trip at the end of august, and after this little chat with cole i am inspired. Mike has a few places in mind, the top of the list being oslo, stockholm, helsinki, reykjavik and crete. We started naming random places and came up with kazakstan and it actually looks like a pretty amazing place.

http://www.kondor-tour.kz/media/Astana/bulvar.jpg

Mike watches the Tour De France every year and apparently they have a pretty good cycling team. The following conversation went down on aim:

Martine (2:41:25 PM): they are really good at cycling
Martine (2:41:40 PM): i remember watching the tour de france last year and they had a bunch of people in the top 20
Martine (2:41:51 PM): http://velochimp.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/astana_down.thumbnail.jpg
Me (2:42:14 PM): that chick could be really hot
Me (2:42:25 PM): is thata chick
Me (2:42:27 PM): i hope its a chick
Me (2:42:31 PM): omg its not a chick
Me (2:42:33 PM): wtf

Me (2:42:37 PM): im gonna go kill myself

So Im going to leave it up to you guys to decide.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/pleasebeagirl.jpg

is the biker on the right a girl or just a pretty man? please god say girl.

At least ajkhoosier agrees with me.....

ajkhoosier(2:44:21PM): id lean towards yes
ajkhoosier(2:44:33PM): based on the legs/hair/face
ajihoosier(2:44:39PM): but it could just be a hot dude

I am also pretty inspired by raptor. I've been eating really healthy since ive been home and really taking care of myself. I usually eat some form of kashi high fiber cereal or great grains for breakfast with dried blueberries and cherries for breakfast. For lunch I either eat some tuscany bean salad, with navy beans, barley, red and green peppers and some sundried tomatoes or i eat some lentils mixed with rice and maybe some chicken or noodles mixed in. For dinner i've been varying between some small portioned pastas, sushi or some of the same stuff i've been eating for lunch. Throughout the day if i need to snack a bit ill eat some fruit salads, maybe some scones my mom makes or just some raisin toast with raspberry jam.

I've also been trying to drink a good amount of water today and really cut down on the calories i consume in drinks. Drinking a lot of water per day not only keeps you well hydrated but increases your metabolism and is necessary for your body to deal with high amounts of fiber, of which i eat a lot. I dont drink soda or coffee, but i've cut down a lot on how much orange juice and gatorade i take in per day.

I'm getting in a pretty good workout routine. I either go to BJJ or the gym every day. At the gym i'm doing either a 2 or 3 day rotation between chest/triceps, back/biceps and occasionally do a leg day with some shoulder stuff i didnt work on during the other days mixed in. Along with the weights, i have been doing some biking and lots of stretching/flexibility work each day cause i've always been kind of pathetic in that area and it will help me with my jiu jitsu as there are lots of maneuvers where you just need lots of hip dexterity and being able to bend your body in certain ways is a huge plus.

Thats all for now. Gonna get back to dusting off Harry potter 4: the goblet of fire. its really great so far and i cant seem to put it down. i havent had much of a desire to play poker the past few days, just really in need of a few day break. ill probably put in a session later tonight of cash and then ill play the tourneys all day tomorrow and hopefully snap something off.

take it easy guys

So on the way to my first bjj class at gracie new jersey I got a ticket. It was a really dumb ticket too cause I think what i did, although not on the right side of the law, is the safer alternative.

So I was merging onto a highway from a street and after the onramp there is no merge lane, the lane pulls directly into the rightmost lane of the highway. As I was pulling on I glanced quickly and actually thought a yield sign was ahead, but I guess I am blind and it was actually a stop sign. Anyway, i was driving and i looked to the left at the oncoming traffic and i had about 150 yards of room before a wall of cars was approaching. I decided to just zip right through before they got there because if i stopped i would have to go from 0 to 70 extremely fast to match the speed of the cars coming towards me since there was no merge lane.

Let me draw a picture for you:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/wtf_stop_sign.JPG

As you guys can clearly see me stopping and waiting would be really ridiculous and unsafe. trying to accelerate fast enough to keep up with the cars that might bump me in the ass is suicide. and who knows how long i would have to wait there before i got another opportunity like the one i had. its not like there was a light stopping the cars before they got to me so i could have a finite fixed number of time that i would be waiting.

Anyway asshole cop comes over to my car asks for my license and registration before even really telling me what i did wrong, writes up the ticket and tells me id have to pay the fine for not stopping at the sign and get 2 points. i mean i honestly dont care too much about the money or points its just the principle of it and the fact that i have to go through a hassle to pay it.

So after that whole fiasco i finally make it over to the bjj place and get in a good lesson. it was really awesome. Over at marc laimon's place in vegas we worked a lot on maintaining guard, some submissions from our guard, passing the guard, maintaining and escaping mount and some subs to go for when youre in mount. Today we did a lot on side control, the 7 positions of side control, staying in side control as our opponent tries to get out, trying to move towards mount, and a bunch of stuff dealing with takedowns. It was a lot of fun and ill probably start going 2-3 times a week while im home.

Havent been playing too much poker past few days but in the time that ive had ive done pretty badly at 3/6-5/10 nl on ftp, done well in sngs and done well in mtts. i final tabled the 100r on monday but got a disappointing 6th place cause at one point i was 1/6 with 50bb and first was 39000. But two 23bb resteals with AJo and KJo running into AA and QQ will knock you off your perch pretty quickly.

Anyways, im gonna go shower up and read some more harry potter. Im on the fourth book and its getting really awesome.

http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb131/Sam_symbian/HarryPotterAndTheGobletOfFire200572.NhaNc3.jpg

If you guys have never read them, the first couple books are fun but a little on the kiddie side but starting with the 3rd book it gets a lot more awesome and more suited for older people who are still basically kids like me. either way you guys would enjoy it. plus it will help you understand where people like dracospinner and such get their names from and what kind of people they must be!

Some cool relatively unkown bands ive been listening to

Date: Thu, Jul 24, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

So I am going to Lollapalooza next week. It's basically a 3 day long concert with a really really sick lineup.

http://www.lollapalooza.com/default.asp?fd=1

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/2008lolla.JPG

Theres also a lot more if you keep scrolling down on the site. A few really awesome bands like MGMT, LOUIS XIV, and Holy F*ck.

It's going to be awesome and im really pumped. Anyway just wanted to let you guys in on some lesser known bands ive been listening to because this concert isnt just about the radiohead (FUCKING PUMPED TO FINALLY SEE THEM) or the NIN (GOD I HOPE TRENT PULLS OUT ALL HIS SHIT), but about a lot of the lesser known bands.

1. My Bloody Valentine

One of the influences of bands like smashing pumpkins and radiohead. not really that well known but i have been listening to them for a while now and just love them here are a couple cool/trippy songs:

Really love that song, its called soon. It puts me in a good state of mind, especially for playing poker. Another one of my favorites is this:

Obviously they have a lot of other cool songs, but im not going to post all of them. I recommend listening to I only said, sometimes, and swallow, and if you like those check out their other stuff.

2. MGMT

I didnt show it on the screenshot i posted but they will be playing there. I hadnt heard of them until a few months ago when one of my friends mentioned a few songs i should listen to, but they have some pretty cool shit. Check out this song:

Really like that one a lot. They have some other good stuff too, worth checking out on youtube.

3. Holy F*ck

Another band i found out from my college buddy. I thought they had the best remix of the radiohead song Nude. If you've never heard it its off their new album in rainbows and is a really cool, mellow track.

Radiohead had a contest to remix this song and there were a lot of really awesome entries. Holy fuck ended up getting 9th place but their version is awesome, check it out here:

4. The Album Leaf

Bushman just got me into this band and i love their stuff. They have a few songs with lyrics but its a lot of instrumental stuff.

Thats it for now. Going to try the new BJJ place out tomorrow.

Should be pretty good. I'll probably take a couple beginner classes with gi, then some of the more advanced stuff cause i dont really like using a gi that much.

Grinddddddddddd

Date: Mon, Jul 21, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

So since i get a lot of rakeback now I decided i should practice some $100 and $200 sngs to try and get pretty good at them and maybe get to the point where i can grind the higher stakes ones.

So i played a bunch of them and was doing pretty well but there was a weird break even stretch of around 80 sngs which didnt really fit the sngs i had been playing. I then realized that someone had created the name Ryan Daut on FTP before it became my red name (obv a huge huge brag for me) and apparently he was a $1 sng grinder!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/lolsngs.JPG

Former Ryan Daut, i will make our account look good on sharkscope dont you worry!

Ok, I guess I need to provide some random funny vegas stories from the summer. Ill post more later as i think of them but heres what I got for now.

1. One of my roommates had his friend Ed from his hometown visit. Two of my roommates and Ed made a trip out to the rhino and got a private booth. The three of them were getting dances when all of a sudden they heard Ed's girl screaming at him. "I TOLD YOU TO STOP DOING THAT TWICE ALREADY!!! I TOLD YOU THAT I HAVE SENSITIVE NIPPLES AND YOU SHOULD NOT BE FLICKING THEM!!!!!!!!"

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/lolflicking.jpg

http://webpages.uah.edu/~trawick/portfolio/plus_sign.jpg http://www.faniq.com/images/blog/stripper(1).jpg http://www.worldsgreatesttoys.com/images/blog/080807/equals.gifhttp://www.nataliedee.com/090304/nono.jpg

Apparently Ed the troublemaker decided since she was sensitive that he should attack with some middle finger flicks. I used to flick peoples ears in high school sometimes and let me tell you that hurt. I cannot imagine the pain induced by flicking a touchy areola. NH ed. At the end of the night he claimed that him and his girl had a very soulful conversation. I guess he managed to get the stripper with the heart of gold and nipples of confetti.

2. For the Fourth of July weekend, our place was a madhouse. A bunch of my roommates had friends from home come to visit and it resulted in having somewhere between 20 and 30 people living in an 8 bedroom house. We had a great time but the house was a wreck for a few days there. Anyway July 6th rolls around and most people clear out of the house. I go to take out my contacts and i cannot find my contact case, my spare contacts or my glasses. I start losing my mind because I have pretty bad vision and cant imagine surviving for 2 weeks with no contingency plan if i lose my one pair of contacts. I figure one of the friends in the house mistook my stuff for his own and took it back to wherever he lived and i was just shit out of luck.

I manage to go 2 weeks with only 1 pair and no glasses. A few days in there I had a minor eye infection in one of my eyes so I was walking around with 1 contact in and one out. This caused me to get pretty dizzy because the disparity in vision between my eyes was so big.

One night we had dinner at fix and I was wearing one contact and i was getting so dizzy i had to keep my one eye covered. So i just wore sunglasses to the restaurant and tried my best to keep my right eye closed cause I would get pretty messed up when both eyes were open. Try wearing sunglasses in the darkest eatery in vegas with 1 working eye. It was not a pleasant experience.

Anyway, when we were moving out of the house on July 17th one of my roommates opened up the mirror cabinet on the wall of our bathroom and found my glasses, contacts and contact case. Whenever the maids would come they would stick all the stuff around the sink in closets and cabinets. I thought I had searched every one in the house but there was this mirror in our bathroom which was actually a little medicine cabinet that the dumb maid stuffed all my shit in. I was pretty happy when I found everything but also very tilted.

I have a really funny story but its really long and its not actually my story, its a friends so i will write it up with pictures and fake nakes to protect the innocent later. I still have some tables up and im gonna grind out the rest of the night then go catch up on season 4 of weeds.

Take it easy guys

WAR FEDOR

Date: Sun, Jul 20, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

Yeah so basically Fedor is just a bad bad man.

Fedor Emelianenko
After seeing the replay in slow motion I have to say I was 10000x more impressed with Fedor than the first glance. At first i thought he caught tim with a couple punches and got him down but in slow mo you can see he really caught tim with like 6 punches in 4 seconds then quickly transitions to a RNC from the mount. just amazing to be so fast, strong and well rounded.
I am also happy that arlovski looked so good. Fedor hinted at a possible matchup vs randy couture but theres just no way the UFC will let that happen, and I really dont think randy has much of a chance anyway (20% tops). So i think fedor will fight andre next which is just great because andre might match up better vs fedor than anyone. best takedown defense at heavyweight and great standup. i dont think he has a great chance either, maybe 25%, but its better than anyone else except maybe crocop. barnett should fight sylvia and if he wins then he should get a shot vs the fedor/AA winner. i also would like to see a nog/fedor rematch down the road but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
I am heading home from vegas today and its about time. I cant wait to get on a good workout schedule, start eating healthier, find a good BJJ place back in NJ where i can practice, and work on becoming raptor jr. speaking of raptor, his pokernews rant was pretty funny but very true. the few hands they reported on me throughout the series (and i do mean few) were wrong, but the best part came in the main event. they said I BUSTED OUT ON DAY 2 and had absolutely no updates on me all of day 3. most of my friends and family who were trying to follow online thought i was out and didnt believe me when i told them i started amassing a lot of chips on day 3.
kinda sad that they dont even follow a lot of players and did such a bad job. now im friends with a lot of the live update guys and i realize its a hard job to try and get the action right on every big hand and notice all the players, but the players are always more than helpful in telling how a hand went and its not that hard to get a hand right and rushing to get updates in quickly is not as important as having them correct. also would help if they provided the reporters with pictures of 200-300 players so they could get familiar with a lot of guys that they might not know from other events.
poker has been going ok. since getting a red name im down a little but thats from having a bad 200/400 plo session. ive been doing really well other than my one bad session, so im going to take a break from some nosebleed shots for a while and just grind. im probably not going to leave the computer very much besides working out cause i would really like to grind out a good profit in the next few months and close out the year big.
ok gotta run and catch my flight home. take it easy guys

The Main Event hates me

Date: Fri, Jul 11, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

So i just finished my 3rd main event. I bubbled in a 300k reraised pot with aces. last year i busted with quads vs a straight flush. my first main event i lost all in on an AQ7 flop with AQ v AQ and he ran out a flush.

oh well enough bitching. life is going pretty good. havent been getting much sleep and now that im out of the main i can get some rest and catch up, do laundry and other stuff. will probably stick around vegas for a week or so to sweat the people who are still in. have some hopes alive but will need them to go deep not to get buried overall. will update

one last thing. im finally a RED PRO. woohoo. i always felt like i had been overlooked for a long time and that not many online players have better live results than i do that are not sponsored and it makes me really happy that im finally on a major team. any suggestions as to what i should look like in my avatar photos?

ok bed time. will start posting more updates once i get home and out of vegas

BJJ is awesome

Date: Tue, Jun 24, 2008 Professional Internet Live Tournament

But i am really sore. we have been going 2-3 times a week and its a ton of fun but i gas so quickly. i never had a lot of endurance to begin with, but using new muscles and being too tensed up just make my endurance even less. I will get used to it pretty soon but its pretty painful right now (although one of those good pains that you sadistically like)

I havent been playing a lot of poker. I've played about 8 events so far this year and only have 1 mincash in a goddamn 1500. its pathetic, i have 3 wsop cashes and theyre all small cashes in 1500s. Online is going pretty well. i was up and down for a while but got 3rd in the 100r for 23k which was good to get me out of a little breakeven stretch. Ill probably grind a bunch online til the end of the series and try to build up a good roll online so i can move back into higher games cause they look pretty juicy.

The rest of the series ill probably only play 3-6 more events. I am definitely playing the 5k 6max, the 10k plo and the main event. I am probably playing the 1k rebuy, but i havent decided yet, and i might play 1 or 2 small events like a 1500 nl or a limit shootout, just something where the players are really bad or i have a pretty good chance to win a bracelet compared to the bigger no limit fields.

And on a closing note id like to celebrate my 2nd bracelet winner! Last year mig won a braclet under victor and i in the 5k nl event for over 700k. This year, his roommate blair (blur5f6) won a bracelet in the 2k nl event for over 500k. it was the biggest destruction of a final table ive ever seen my entire life. scott seiver (masterblaster) really cruised through his and mig did too last year but blair lost well over 50% of the all ins on his table and just dominated without showdown. it was amazing to watch, hes so tough to play when he has chips and other people dont. A graphic came up on the plasmas in the room saying he had raised about 45% of the pots from 9 to 4 handed on the table which is pretty unreal. Blair is also an aspiring mspainter. He drew a picture but hasnt sent it to me yet so ill post the genius workings of a bracelet winner whenever he sends that to me, you will want to see it.
