I am sure most of you have seen the charlie bit my finger video on youtube. If you havent, check it out:
Charlie is certainly adorable in this video. But we havent seen anything out of charlie in quite some time. Did he retire? Has he moved on to bigger and better things? I actually ran into charlie recently and I have to say you are going to be quite surprised with what has happened to him.

They just grow up so fast. I ran into charlie while walking through the woods where i saw him chewing on a black bear carcass. I highly recommend that if you see charlie coming you run the other way. Watching the movie aliens for any sigorney weaver insider tips is also recommended.
I also have a new obsession: LOLhighdivers. I bet you guys have seen the lolcat pictures they are everywhere. here are a few examples:

Sure the cats are cute enough, but check out LOLhighdivers

So i am deciding to host a contest!!!!!! Basically make a LOLhighdiver picture and the best one wins 50 bucks. Plz feed my addiction. Ill give a few weeks to get some good entries in there. Try and find some new highdiver pictures to use too cause I am sure there are some other awesome ones out there.
Europe was pretty awesome. After san remo, martine, genius, -bbj- and i went to rome for a few days which was a lot of fun. We went to the pantheon, the coliseum, the vatican and had a few nice dinners. I wish we could have stayed a few extra days to really explore more of the city but I'm at least glad to have seen a few places. I also need to spend some more time in Italy. Brandon Schaefer, Carl Olson and Dani (ansky from 2p2 aka supernova9 aka super hero to railbirds around the world) went to milan, cinque terra and florence which are 3 places i would love to go at some point.
On a sort of tangent to being in italy, i bought this learning italian program called berlitz and im trying to put in a few hours a week. I considered picking up spanish again (i took 5 years of it in high school and middle school) but i decided to try out italian first and then go back and learn more spanish in the future. I can read semi proficiently in spanish but i cant really speak it very well, and i suspect i will be the same way in italian in a few months of practice.
After rome, we flew back to the nice airport and then headed to monte carlo. It was a really beautiful place but i didnt really enjoy being there. The food was extremely expensive (example: hamburger costing 25 euros, which is roughly 40 dollars) and mediocre at best. The service was horrendous as the people in monte carlo dont really cater to non french speaking people. There wasnt a whole lot to do besides being at the casino or in the hotel. There were a few clubs i could have gone to but i didnt bring any appropriate attire with me and im not much of a club person to begin with so it ended up being a sort of boring trip. On the bright side of the trip, i had a piece of martine in the monte carlo main event and he finished in 5th place for 660k so it became a profitable trip based on that. Mike's style is really perfect for european tourneys and him going deep was not a surprise. Here is a pretty agonizing picture of him when he was all in with QT on a T76 board against JJ:

After europe i came home fully intending to get a solid month of working out, learning italian, and grinding online in with no more live tournaments. But right before the wpt championship started, Chris Bush (bushman) won the 5k event for 330k and i again had a nice little piece of him in there, so i decided i was basically freerolling the 25k and at the last minute flew out to vegas to play it.
I played really really bad in the 25k. Im fairly disappointed in how i played in monte carlo as well. I'm ok with it because at least i am recognizing the errors im making and will improve on it in the tournaments over the summer but it really frustrates me to look back at those two tournaments and see all the mistakes i made, especially when they are 2 of the 3 biggest tournaments of the year. I have to work on my concentration and stop making really bad bluffs that never work live as well as some other things. I'm sure ill have it worked out over the summer but its annoying to think that i wasted 2 great opportunities in the last month.
Since being home ive been working out every day and eating well. I am doing a 3 day workout schedule of chest/triceps day 1, back/biceps day 2, and shoulders/legs day 3. I have also been running, jumping rope, doing some ab work and riding the bike most days. I really want to get in my top shape before the summer because I am starting brazilian jiu jitsu over the summer with mig, nazgul, pooruser and a few other friends. I am really excited to start a new sport that I have a lot of interest in. I feel like its going to be kind of hard for me because my athletic limitations are some of the most important for this sport, such as flexibility and good endurance. but im going to give it my all and hopefully ill turn into a pretty sick bjj guy in a couple of years =)
Speaking of MMA, I am going to UFC 84 in vegas on may 24th. It's going to be one of the best cards ever with sean sherk vs bj penn, machida vs ortiz and wandy vs jardine as the 3 main fights. 8 of us are flying out to vegas a week before the series starts to go see it. check this site out:
http://84.ufc.com/
really cool hype of ufc 84. it shows clips hyping up the 3 main fights and has lots of videos about each of the 6 fighters, showing highlights of some old fights and their training regimens. def worth looking at all the stuff if you are an mma fan.
anyways gotta run, lost is starting. this season is so fucked up but so intriguing. if you guys have never watched it, here is enough incentive to start:

So Urijah faber is probably the 2nd best 145 pound mma fighter in the world and is one of my heroes. (On a side note, when arbianight fought mma he actually fought against faber and took him to a decision! he is also a hero of mine, check out his fighting profile: http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfinder.asp?FighterID=4873 )
Anyway, the interview is a couple years old but it is Faber talking about a sick sick street fight he had when he was in Indonesia. Definitely a must see. The description of the fight starts at 1:55 if you dont want to watch the beginning
Enjoy!!!
The month of march finished pretty well for me. I did really well in my week out in omaha and won about 35k and recovered from my retardo downswing i had at home in between LAPC and omaha. I always seem to do insanely well in omaha, in about 20 days there total im up around 85k. i guess i should consider living there year round.
I was home for a couple days and since i had to cash out a lot of money to pay my taxes i had a really short stars roll and started grinding 2/4 full ring. its pretty hilarious and somewhat demoralizing to be playing 200/400 one day, go on a decent upswing there and then be grinding stakes 1/100th the size seriously. im pretty sure im probably the only person in the history of poker to do such a thing.
On sunday night i fly out of new jersey to paris, then fly to nice, then took a train to san remo for the EPT event here. I have to say i cannot love this place anymore. The food is amazing, everyone is really nice here, the weather is great, its a really beautiful place to be in and the women are awesome. not much more to ask for. genius and i made an agreement that if either of us won the tournament we are buying a place here. the agreement was actually on a villa, but i have no idea what a villa is except that its really expensive, so im just going to call it a place for now.
Day 1 of the tournament went ok. i ended the day with 36k. i played pretty well for most of the day but terrible for my standards in the last level cause at that point i had been up 24 hours straight and was exhausted. i made 2 or 3 really sketchy plays that i wouldnt normally make and im pretty angry about how it worked out.. anyway im probably slightly above average going into day 2 so i cant complain too much. ill post about the 1 hand i think i might have butchered but is actually a semi interesting spot because it was the last hand of the day later after i have more time to think about it and maybe talk with the player it was against.
Since i didnt bring a digital camera ill just post some pictures from the pokerstars blog and google of some of the views ive had in italy:

This is a view of the pool and view we have looking out into the sea. this is a view from a hotel room so its basically exactly what we see when we look out our window

this is the view of the coast along the mediterranean. the train ride from nice to san remo rode all along the coast so i just sat there staring out at the sea the entire time. its really something else.

a view of the city from the sea
ill try to get a hold of a digi so i can take some better pictures and post some of the shops and alleys we've been walking around on (and pictures of the food!)
So an awesome dutchy named Webjoker who works for pokernews.nl made a comic strip about me and isaac haxton playing hu at the pca. its pretty funny, ill copy paste the images over to here for the lazy out there.
ike is pretty much the man and has probably improved more than any player in the last year with the exception of maybe raptor. it was a really fun hu match to play and exciting to watch on tv when 2 people who are playing aggro and well go up against each other instead of the usual tv final tables.

i need to get out to the netherlands one of these days and drink with my tall cow loving brothers.
4 tables of 2/4 full ring on stars
Overall i played well and i think had some good commentary but there were 2 or 3 mistakes i made that i really wish i hadnt. but its ok, after the video goes up ill talk about 2 or 3 of the situations more in depth on here.
in other news, migs roommates are my heroes. blair (blur5f6) hinkle has been destroying every live tourney he has played i definitely owe him an mspaint.
migs other roommate blake (ballab13) cahail just got 3rd in the wynn classic for 177k after final tabling 3 events in council bluffs last month. pretty heroic run for him. he won the sunday mill a few months back and followed in the immortal footsteps of mig, shown in the following picture by my favorite photoshopper byrnesam:
