Listen to this... So the other night I played alllllmost as bad as Octavian_C well not that bad but I played bad and I got headsup against Rockets23 when I was like a 10-1 underdog and I won every hand almost until I won lmao. Don't get me wrong there are very good players at the $225's but some of the regs are a joke. I've had alot of requests too make some MTT videos so I will get on that tomorrow so expect them within the next couple days. OK that's it for now gl everyone.
...
So the last two nights in a row Ive played the 70 grand Ive come in 2nd and 6th which is pretty redic considering both fields had over 1500 players. Frusterating to get that far and not win but can't complain because obv you have to run good to make it that far.
I've also been doin well playing sng's and made a very sick play today.

This looks redic but I have my reasons. I like showing this kinda stuff because players think they can make me fold anything then just bluff off their stack later to me.
Still in the process of closing on the condo. It's really frusterating because I'm putting 25% down and can show good tax forms and assets, but I don't have any credit because I have always payed for everything cash. This becomes a problem when getting a loan so it's taking a lil longer than I expected but should be movin into my place within the next couple weeks. Anyway, advice to everyone... make sure too build credit before getting a loan or else the whole process becomes difficult.
meh PLO has been doing awful for the last few days. I went on a nice 12 buyin downswing at 2/4, which was no fun. According to the poker graph ev program, I am running at $6000 below expectation, so I guess I am ok with that. I also played a little 5/10 and am up $700 over 200 hands. Anyways, I am up a whopping $250 over 10000 hands. Hopefully I can run at expectation for the next few days cause losing most of the all ins is no fun, although should be expected from time to time. I saw Brn Grundys graph on 2+2 the other day. I hope to one day figure out how to run at 40ptbb/100 at nosebleed stakes with little to no variance over 20000 hands. I have also been 6 tabling, which may be cutting down on my winrate. I think I am going to do back to 4 tabling for the next few days. Katy has convinced me to go take some work out class tomorrow. I was also under the impression that work out memberships were cheap, like $10/mo. Here they are $70/mo for 2 people, which basically means I am going to have to force myself to work out lots to make up for the $60 in price difference that was caused by my incorrect thinking. Besides that, life has been fairly uneventful.
Please email me at jmichael1enator@gmail.com if you are interested I hope to play all of the WCOOP events on PokerStars next month exept the 25k heads up event. For those of you who aren't familiar with the WCOOP (the World Championsihp Of Online Poker) it is basically a series of 30 tournaments or so spread out over 2-3 weeks, where the buy ins range from 200 dollars to 25k. There are a total of ~37k worth of events that I hope to play. Some of them, like the big NLH events I will very +ev in (probably well over 100%), while some of the smaller field events I will only be 25-50% plus ev in. I think fair price is 1.5-1. So basically if you want to buy some of my action just shoot me an email at jmichael1enator@gmail.com and I will accept money on PokerStars or FullTilt and will give you back any profit on the same site you sent me money on. So come on guys, help me reduce some variance and buy a few hundred bucks worth ;)
Somebody bet me I can't get elite playing cash games, so i won't have to play donkandgoes anymore
This is mostly 2/4 and alil 3/6, I'm running a few thousand above expectation, I'd show the numbers but theres some sort of width limitation the top of that is 18k this is `25k hands. Im def. alil to cally at times but working on that, foxwoodfiends movin' on up series for deuces cracked is a must see for anyone interested in climbing the cash latter. I hope to get to over 100k hands by the end of the month and will hopefully be able to put up some solid results.
good 2hr sesh well the first block for the madness comp i decided to play went well. I made about $700 on the session and ended up coming 2nd for the $300 prize. prolly play a few more sessions before the madness thing ends. ill keep updating.. jiz
gl me I have decided that I need to start working out, as there is a workout place right down the street and I have the ability to make free time. The problem is that Katy only likes to work out in the mornings. Actually, that isnt the problem. The problem is that we have been waking up at 4pm every day. So, weve decided to try to stay up until 10 pm or so tomorrow and try to wake up around 10am the next day, putting us back on a semiregular sleep schedule. A few years ago when I grinded lots, I would stay up for 48 hour stretches probably once or twice a month, but I havent done anything like that in the last year or so. Hopefully we can pull through the tiredness and make it work. I also played a bit more plo this morning and ran super awful. I decided to download the pokerev tool, which basically tells you how much you should be up based on your equity in all your hands versus how much you are actually up. It turns out that I should be up $3000 more than I am, so that makes me happy. It makes being up a whopping $26 after my first 6000 hands of plo not feel so awful. Hopefully I get to put in some more hands in the near future and can start running at expectation. I think we are going shopping for a new bedspread, as the one that came from bed bath and beyond came ripped up and I dont want to deal with having to returning it. edit: So its 2:30 am now and we are still going strong. I got a little tired around midnight but am doing fine now. Katy wants to go play some mario cart wii, and I cant complain, so we are going to do that. I also decided to run hot in plo. I am now up $1450 over 6800 hands, which is still $1700 below expectation, but it is better than being up $26. edit again: so it's 9:00pm now and we just got home from eating golden corral which katy loves for their yeast rolls. i ran super hot in plo a while ago and got up 6 more buyins but lost it back in my last session after running horribly. the good thing is that my sklansky buck graph keeps going up so thats good. Today has been a pretty productive day, as we have hung paintings, cleaned our garden, visited katys parents, put a new thermostat and door bell, and installed some new door knobs. all that is left to do is straighten up the house and a couple things here and there.
yay PLO was going pretty poorly til yesterday at $2/4. I was down 5 buyins over like 2000 hands but won 8 buyins in the past 2 days, putting me up $1200ish total for the last few days. I have only gotten to play 3500 hands which makes me kinda sad. It seems like stuff just keeps coming up that I have to take care of. We took our dog up to the vet to get flee medicine a few days ago and somehow ended up adopting a cat. After doing research on declawing the little guy, we decided to get these things called soft tips, which are basically thin pieces of rubber that go over the claw, making them not sharp. Hopefully they work, as apparently declawing a cat would be similar to cutting the last knuckle off of a humans hand. We also keep getting in random stuff to make our home complete, like night stands, bookshelves, dishwashers, etc etc. Half of it requires me to put it together, so that isnt too much fun, but it must be done. I also didnt realize the WPT in LA is in like 2 weeks. I was thinking I was going to have more time to work on plo...maybe I have, but time flys when you arent playing poker apparently. Ill post again when something happens.
...
Basically when I first got back from Vegas I was playing sloppy 25 tabling and running really bad, then I started making adjustments in my game and reducing my tables to 20 and I can feel myself wrecking people again. Also, my lil bro who I back in mtts had a cash for 23k recently so ship half of that. He is also killing sng's now but told me not to mention his name so I'll respect that.
In other news, I'm in the process of buying a condo in Downtown Richmond on the James river that is very baller. It has all glass walls overlooking the river and bars all around so don't have to worry about how I'm going to get home after going out anymore. I'll be sure to take pictures of everything when I move in. That's it for now, gl everyone.
I heard Chip was getting a dog so I got one first Its a half boxer/half australian shepard 8 week old puppy. I'll try to get pictures up in the near future. Its very hard to take care of a puppy because you have to watch them 24/7, and they go to the bathroom like 10 times a day. They never let you sleep and they chew on stuff. Luckily for me he somehow knows not to go to the bathroom in the house which is a big plus
Didn't put in near enough hours, didn't run too hot when I did.
Played 66 hours of cash, which is just pathetic from a work ethic standpoint.
Most of that was at 100nl, the rest at 1-2 and 2-4 cap nl. The Cap NL games are really soft but there is tons and tons of AIPF hands and you can definitely run way below EV.
I also played 18 Multi-table SNGs one afternoon and ran like a god.
I haven't really played SNGs for a couple months now but I like to use my Iron Man medals on $26 tokens because they have some of the best value in the store. Those SNGs were a split between 45 mans and 90 man KO's.
All in all, its a pretty disappointing month poker wise, but only putting in 70 hours of work left me plenty of time for other things. I got to spend a lot of time with my GF, which is nice because she'll be back to teaching in a couple weeks and I won't see her as much.
I went up to Chicago for a bachelor party last weekend, we drank way too much, saw some stand up and watched a cubs game from a roof on sheffield. I went to ~50 cubs games back when I was in college, but never watched one from a rooftop before, so that was a new experience.
July totals:
$1500 from cash games
$1350 from SNGs
$1200 in bonuses from FTP ($600 ironman midyear, $100 for the check full tilt bounced me, and $500 from another random FTP bonus)
$800 in RB
Total $4850
$69/hr
Hopefully I'll get motivated to play in August, I might jump into some SNG Madness this weekend, but I'm obv super rusty at sngs and 16 tabling them could be a disaster so we'll see.
disappointing sorry i havent blogged in a while.. just got back from thailand which was awesome. ended up getting attacked by a monkey and rode some elephants so that was cool. uni has gone back on the other hand which kinda sucks. its a big reality check when you get back from your holiday the day before you go back to uni. sngs have been going well. my goal for this financial year is to make roughly $100k (inlcuding sngs and mtt's) and also do well in uni. (i could make 3 x this amount if uni wasn't on the cards). Just finally finished the turbo fiddy and came 2nd which sucks because i had a mediocre chip lead going into HU.. i got $3250 anyways which is good for a $5 investment (i knocked out S gromenkova for a $50 bounty). anyways ill post again soon.. keep it real jiz
. There isnt much to say really. I played around 1000 hands of plo yesterday at 2/4 and won a buyin. I was up 10 buyins on one table but down 9 on another, so apparently variance is huge in the game, although I already knew that. I played 4 mtts yesterday, getting itm in only the 5000 fpp $1,000,000 freeroll. In the warmup, I got AA in against KK and lost pretty early. In the mil, I forget what happened to knock me out but I got crippled when I had AT lose to T9 all in pre. In the 5000 fpp one, I got a T high flush draw against a K high flush draw, which usually doesnt turn out too well for me. We had to wake up early today for the security alarm guy to come and reactivate the alarm here. We also got our new fridge in at the same time, so that was good. I studied a little then fell asleep on the couch, as waking up at 8 am doesnt work too well for me. I have to run up to my cpas office soon, but after that, I should be able to work a decent amount today.
also getting a collie puppy in a week I've been trying to keep my sessions under ~80 games as I planned a couple weeks ago, and it's been going well. I've had a 10% ROI this month, including a 7% ROI at the $114s, before FPPs and other bonuses. I really think that shorter sessions are the way to go at the $114s+ because you have to be playing your best at all times in order to beat them. I also just seem to zone out after 5 hours straight of grinding, but I'm ok with having a smaller # of total games per month than before. So far this month I've only played 1600 games, but I feel like I've barely played and just generally feel fresher at the beginning and end. Today I played way more than I was anticipating because the games were running like crazy, and I was at 16+ tables almost the entire time. I played for 5 hours or so and got in 124 games with a 20% ROI which was good. I didn't really do anything in the Warmup or Million but cashed in a couple other MTTs to recoup some of that. I'm up to 85,000 VPPs this month which is ok, but a little less than I'd like. I'm going to try to get to 100,000 before the end of the month, but not sure I'm going to make that.r In other news I'm getting a 6 week old Sable Collie puppy on Aug. 4th from Waco. We drove up there a couple days ago to pick one out and it's a really good looking dog. I probably won't be able to play as much immediately after getting it because it'll require a ton of care, but I'm really excited for it because I love dogs and have had 3 collies before. There are many parks around Austin so it'll be a lot of fun for both parties I'm sure. Also maybe I'll use it as my Stars avatar so people will think I'm horrible. Overall I think the 2x promotion by Stars was a huge success, and I hope they take notice that almost none of their MTTs had overlay and just raise the guarantees. They will almost never miss a guarantee no matter how high they put it, so they really should just keep raising them until it gets remotely close to not having overlay. I really think they could get 2000 people a night for their $50 50k guaranteed and could also make their nightly $150 tourney a 250k guarantee without much of overlay. Today they had a $100 15k guarantee (150 people) with over 1000 entrants, which is kinda silly. Anyways, Stars is pretty smart so hopefully they figure that one out. We recently teamed up with All In Magazine, and we're letting them host some samples of our videos on their web site once a week or so. You can find the videos on the homepage and under the poker instructionals section. They host some pretty good weekly freerolls that should help beginning players build their rolls up. Our new site is scheduled to launch August 1st, and so far we've gotten 3 more people to make videos, which should really add a lot more content to the training section. That's it for now, I'll update if anything interesting happens.
