Levelling - - Hand Reading

Date: Tue, Dec 4, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

"Multiple level thinking is largely what seperates professionals from amateurs, what seperate players who win at the top levels from those who lose" - Sklansky For the most part players on my level, including myself, think on level one the majority of the time. This level, refered to as the "Zeroth" level in "Theory and Practise", is where a player only considers his hand and what possible hands

Quick Update

Date: Thu, Nov 29, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

I haven't been able to update or play much because of life stuff... busy. But i feel that i've been playing my best poker in a while recently. I played about 8 4/180s on sunday and busted early in all except one. The level of play was horrible, after 30 minutes it was normal to have 5 players with a vpip of +40% and at least 2 at +70%... just a mine field. The Tourny that i went deep in, i

Paying Attention Costs Nothing

Date: Thu, Nov 22, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

This is the title of one of Rizen's Articles from the Good Reading section on the left. He observes how many players pay a huge buy-in fee to enter a tournament and then proceed to not give it their full attention, thus leaving money on the table. I know that i am also guilty of this because i usually play while also watching tv or browsing websites online. While my buy-in fees are alot less

Weekly Update & New Links

Date: Wed, Nov 21, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

So i'm playing $4/180 sngs almost exclusively now. I played 52 of them in October with a ROI of about 77%... not sustainable I know. But i'm not interested in grinding these for a profit. I'm trying to build a bankroll and gain some experience in MTT play. Eventually i'd like to play in some of the larger tournies on the net... the ones with the big payout :). So far this month though i've

Update

Date: Mon, Nov 12, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

Didn't make my goal of breaking even on sharkscope for my 2000th sng. I came close but went on a bad streak. Just couldnt get deep like i was doing recently and took a lot of bad beats. Also played some when i was just not in the frame of mind to make good decisions... always a bad thing. I've made two more final tables in the 180s recently but busted 5th both times. I will have to adjust my FT

Tournament Review

Date: Mon, Oct 29, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

Regular reviews are an important part of improving your tournament play. Its amazing how much you learn, by replaying a tournament, about your own play and your opponents. After busting 20th in the last 3 180sngs that i went deep in i decided that i had to replay each to see what went wrong. I learned that i missed several spots to pick up chips and i was busting out because i did not change

SharkScope

Date: Fri, Oct 26, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

I checked myself out at sharkscope recently and I'm at 1962 games played with 2% ROI and -$359.00. My goal will be to breakeven by my 2000th game. While i've been crushing the $3.25 45 player sngs lately, these will not get the job done. therefore my next 38 games will be strictly $4/180 sngs. Speaking of the $4/180 sngs, i was browsing pocketfives lastnight at work and noticed that they have a

3.5 Month Blog/Poker Break!

Date: Mon, Oct 15, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

..... where do i begin? First the break was not planned. I did not say i will not play poker/blog for this period of time, it just happened. I did not, do not hate poker. I'm just not as enthused as i used to be. Several things kinda happened in my life at once that made if difficult for me to care or focus entirely on poker. Then i went on a downswing, and was unable to recover. My poker 'mojo

UPDATE

Date: Mon, Jul 30, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

Nothing much going on. Mainly dealing with some life stuff and playing poker occassionally. Have moved to the 45s, mainly because of the time factor. I have also played a few sessions of 25nl-100NL 6mx on UB with average results. nothing interesting.

6max NL bug: Catching it again

Date: Tue, Jul 24, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

Its been a few weeks since i've played 6max nlhe and i'm beginning to feel the itch to play again. I've played a few sessions on UB and have done ok. I finally took a look at my stats for June and i'm only down 3 BIs after less than 10k hands. This is not as bad as it felt. I made some truly horrible plays but not surprisingly these were preceeded by some equally horrendous beats. But i

Thursday Update: Bubble Boy

Date: Thu, Jul 19, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

I played two $4/180 tournies today, was poised to go deep in the first one but ran into a bad beat in the first hour in the process of building my stack. I was actually a short stack in the second at the time i busted out. I refocused on the this tourny and went deep; finishing 10th. This is my final hand. Wednesday Update

Date: Wed, Jul 18, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

I did not play a 4/180 tourny today because i felt i would not be able to focus for the full tourny. Instead i decided to play a few 45 player tournies.I single tabled for the first one because i had to create a pahud log to send to support. For the past few weeks my hud has not been working and i can't figure out why... I hope this resolves the problem. I did not money in any of these tournies.

Best Finish & Bad Beat

Date: Tue, Jul 17, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

Today I came 3rd in a $4 180 on Stars for a profit of $81.28. How is this a bad beat you ask? Well with 11 persons left i was chip leader with 54K+ chips. Blinds were about to raise to 500/1000 with 200ante (not sure about the ante) when suddenly my internet DISCONNECTED!!!!!I tried everything... rebooted my pc and the modem...NADA! Went around to my sister's house... not home.sigh. I don't

Monday's Tournaments

Date: Mon, Jul 16, 2007 Internet Live Tournament

My goal right now is to develop my MTT skills. Due to severe bankroll limitations at this time i'm playing the low buy-in multi-table sngs in the 18 - 180 player range. I hope to gain experience beating these limited fields while taking shots at larger (field) mtts on weekends. Today i only played 3 tournaments; 1. 3.25 BI - 45 player - 22nd - 0.00 2. 3.25 BI - 45 player - 4th - $15.00 3. 4.40
