Filipino Poker Tour

Date: Sat, Jan 26, 2008 Internet

Some nose sniffing around caught me great pleasure to know that there is something going on at the Asia Pacific region. In actuality i've been following on this ever since the last APPT. I can't deny the fact that Phlippines indeed have an affinity towards poker. It seems to be growing non-stop.

Building on the previous APPT, Phlippines now have Filipino Poker Tour which started yesterday on Jan 26. And they are partnering with PokerStars to make this a success. This tournament which will take 2 days will be at their very own card club, Metro Card Club. It even has its own website. Very cool.

Why am i featuring it here is because they are doing so well, i think it is something that needs to be look up to. I do not really know any of the players from there or am affiliated with them. It is the sentiments that something is happening at this region that is good to hear. Sooner or later the whole world will get to know about poker more better than they really are.

Poker Postings Listed On Blogged

Date: Mon, Jan 21, 2008 Internet

Something you may need to know is that the color of the main post is gone. It has become white in color now and will need some adjusting for the eyes. The coding doesn't give any effect at all.

From getting whitewashed to being listed on a blog directory might not sound like a turn of events on the felt. But it seems to be a good thing. Getting listed in a blog directory means getting noticed by a few extra eyeballs. The best part is i did not request it myself.

Blogged.com is one of the blog directories that got my attention from a recent visitor. It came across as a neat and easy to navigate site. It is not just another boring links in their relevant categories but include screenshots and rankings to the site as well. This is one of the places you should consider submitting your blog into if you just started out.

In the meantime, my hit counts been increasing and so does subscribers. Statistics says, 43.64% are returning visitors. Thank you for coming back. I hope you had a great weekends and enjoyed following Aussie Millions 2008 if any of you.

Write Poker Play Poker

Date: Tue, Jan 8, 2008 Internet

If you have been playing online poker for sometime you can be rest assured there will be some that writes about it. There are a lot of poker blogs out there. Some are new, some are old and some just stop writing anymore. But there are chances that what some of these players have written will be something you and i will have in common.

If you don't mind writing about your game, which is something i haven't been doing a lot lately, you can create a blog at pokerweblogs.com. To have a directory for poker blogs is a good idea because everything around the internet right now mostly fit for making money blog niches. After all, it is here where i discovered about Celina Lin the poker player.

If that is not cool enough, i found a network that pays you to write. Ya, it will be something like a job now. Be a poker blogger and get a job :). The network pays about $200 per month. That would be some easy money for an easy job. I will put the money into my poker bankroll. It doesn't hurt. One such site is this, which is under the Creative Weblogging network keepyourpokerface.com.

The network handles all the rest. Basically they just set up the site and plug into their network. All you have to do is just write poker. How cool is that?

Late Post

Date: Tue, Jan 8, 2008 Internet

Haven't updated much lately and am not sure if i had the required post for blogging my poker game. You can be pretty sure i haven't been touching any chips live on or offline. But after coming this far, i have been more often caught up with blog posting itself than reporting about my game. I do keep tab about my game and i know where i am going at. As long as i am still writing here, i will be alright.

Everyone will take a bad beat because it is just poker. No one will have a graph of a straight line upwards proportional between their profits and number of hands. Unless you are cheating. As much as how equally interesting bad beat stories can be, stories of other people's successes are great to hear. They can be inspirational. Because as poker players, we all can share the joy and know exactly how it feels like.

It is always great to read of other people's successes. Especially so when you just started playing and want to know what frustrates them that in another way can also be amusing to you. Either way, be it successes or poker related stories we do want to hear it right. We are all in it together. The game itself or the lack of it here are what we relate to easily.

New Year New Treats

Date: Tue, Jan 1, 2008 Internet

It is new year. Have just finished watching 3 episodes of the series 'Tilt' online from a link that was passed to me from an msn buddy. The quality is good. Have spotted TJ Cloutier and Daniel Negreanu in the first episode. The series is like a cross over between Las Vegas and The Shield only no bad cop/good cop. It has all the elements of sex, alcohols, vegas, poker and good looking women to keep you watching.

You can also pay Great Movies a visit. A mate is doing this blog collecting links where people are hosting the movies. So other people can watch it for free....Ahem. It includes the movie Rounders also as well as some from different genres. Happy New Year!!!

An Online Poker Informational Site

Date: Fri, Dec 28, 2007 Internet

The topic this post is referring to is BeatTheFish.com. The name certainly sounds good. The site has been around for over 2 years and is devoted to online poker with their serving of original contents. It did many reviews of online poker rooms and provide several bonuses for players who signed up from them.

One of the offered bonuses you can get from a major poker room is by getting their PokerStars Marketing Code. The page itself provides simple explanation on the steps and also the benefits available. If that doesn't satisfy your interest you can visit their article on 3D Poker Online. It showed where US players can go to experience 3D gaming.

One of the poker rooms it mentioned that promotes 3D poker environment is PKR. Here you can obtain PKR Bonus Code and view beautiful screenshots that BeatTheFish is proud of.

But what i like most is not what i mentioned above. It is their strategy articles that i like. There are a lot. Each quipped with picture of a fish saying something like,

"I used to fall for this one... I guess that's why they call me 'Fishy'."

With all these original written strategy articles, it just goes on to show that BeatTheFish is an experienced poker player and knows poker.

The PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour has ended with more than a week ago. The series ended with one big tournament in Sydney. With it, another poker player has turned millionaire overnight just like that. But this player is special, he is not Chris Moneymaker or Joe Hachem. He is Grant Levy a school teacher from New South Wales.

With him winning it from his own country, it will definitely create a buzz and stimulate the local players there. There is also another player that must be mention that comes from Malaysia. Malaysia, a country that describes itself as 'Truly Asia' was represented by Vijayam Nagarajan who finished 8th spot out of 561 for whopping $69,060.

You can listen to a mp3 interview of what the Sydney APPT 2007 champion, Grant Levy has to say after the win (QuickTime suggested) : Grant Levy-ABC mp3 interview

Featured Poker Player : Celina Lin

Date: Wed, Dec 26, 2007 Internet

Forget about Liz Lieu, Evelyn Ng or even Annette Obrestad. The much hotter player that came across my glance recently during the Christmas eve is Celina Lin. There can be no Christmas gifts better than this. All i can say is she makes me wanna quit my job and play poker for real.

Playing poker is her profession and she's been doing it decently. It was reported that she had signed on with PokerStars and will represent Team PokerStars at events all over the world. As hot as she is, she's already a girlfriend of Tony Dunst. Another poker player..... The best part is, she is just over at the land Down Under. That is why she is hot and it is now.

She writes her blog celinalin.com.

Merry Christmas Poker Players, Readers, Visitors And Friends Or Foe

Date: Tue, Dec 25, 2007 Internet

An adaptation of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Denis Waitley.

Now's the time you should hear this! For very good reason!
Now, please don't ask why. It's not simply the season.
Sooner or later the Grinch will invite you
To give up your life's goal as something you can't do.

It could be his head isn't screwed on just right.
It could be, perhaps, that his pants are too tight.
But I think the most likely reason of all
Is that his heart is too cold and his vision too small.

The Grinch is a dream stealer of many disguises.
A friend or relation with depressing surprises.
Just when you feel that your business is booming
He fills you with thoughts that are glooming and dooming.
He whispers about the forthcoming disaster
And about the new plan where you'll get rich much faster

When you say you look forward to earning a million.
He'll scoff and retort: "Not one chance in a billion!"
With a stock market rising and confidence strong
You'd think he'd get real and start going along.
But he howls and he growls with his terrible frown
"Whatever goes up, has got to come down!"

Sometimes the Grinch is quick to appear.
Sometimes he shows up year after year.
But whatever your "Why" and no matter "Who"
The dream stealer, Grinch, will start hitting on You.
He's the fear deep inside that insists you can't sell.
He's the voice that says, "Stop! Things are going too well!"

He especially hates Christmas and the spirit of giving
For he selfishly thinks that by "getting" you're living.
He thinks passionate service is too big a "Why"
And that money's the only incentive to try.
But he's missing the point, and hasn't a clue
That every Who out in Who-ville has a Dream to come true.

Sooner or later all dream stealers find
That they're out in the cold and left far behind.
What they could have or might have or should have possessed
Has now passed them by and left them depressed.

As you sit by the fire and plan the new year
Surrounded by family and friends of good cheer.
Remember the Grinch, with his feet in the snow.’
Standing puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?"
"It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes or bags!"

"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store."
"Maybe Christmas... Perhaps... means a little bit more!"
It's a spirit to treasure each day and each night
It's the reason the dream is still burning bright
It's a mission of hope you can trust and believe
"The more that you give, the more you'll receive!"

This is no joke. Received an email newsletter recently from playing at his poker room, Doylesroom.com and read a full account from the legend about Chip Reese. Having able to read what the legend has to write is not something to be less welcomed about. He is certainly very tech savvy despite his age. There is more of him in his writing than mere pages. POKER GAME BASICS : How To Play 5 Card Draw

Date: Mon, Dec 17, 2007 Internet

It is possibly one of the simplest variations of a poker game.

The Idea
The objective of the game is still to form the best 5 cards. However in this game, all 5 cards are given to you. You have only one round where you have the choice to exchange those cards dealt to you ranging from 0-5 cards. It is up to you. As in every other poker game, here there will be betting round before and after the draw.

The Betting Explained
Since all 5 cards were given to you, there will be no community cards. You play only the ones you are holding. A 5 card draw poker game conform to the following structure;

Name of rounds
1. pre-draw
2. draw
3. post-draw
4. showdown

The game follow in accordance from 1-4. There are two betting rounds and it happens at pre-draw and post-draw. There will be blinds.

The Blinds Explained
The blinds are there to induce play. The blinds are made up of Big Blind (BB) and Small Blind (SB). Who gets to be BB and SB will be determined on where the Dealer (D) is.

In this game, as in most poker games, BB will be left of SB and SB will be left of D. In all 5 card draw games, the first player to act when pre-draw round came is the player sitting directly left of the Big Blind. At the post-draw round, the first player to act is any player sitting directy left of the Dealer.

The game will start clockwise.
