Big fan

Date: Wed, Nov 5, 2008 Internet

Have to say I'm a fairly big fan of this months Bluff Magazine cover. Not sure how about the poker crudentials of Lacey Jones and Christina Lindley as between them have only racked up $15K in tourney finishes since 2007. Speaking of racks....

Tsk tsk

Date: Tue, Nov 4, 2008 Internet

Thoroughly demotivated by the weak British pound over the last 6 weeks: 80% of my savings are in pounds and any property I'm looking to buy here is sold in dollars. In the space of a few weeks I've waved bye-bye to 25% of my purchasing power. I am still earning in dollars though, but due to a bad in October, rather than playing more poker to take advantage of it's recent increase in value I

Date: Mon, Sep 15, 2008 Internet

Here's a few links that you might find interesting and useful if you're in to the whole idea of travelling and working at the same time: Almost Fearless. A blog that follows Christines journey from corporate manager to free wheeling travel writer. Nomadic Matt. A twenty-something vagabond who has been on the road regularly since 2005. Nerdy Nomad. Libertango

Date: Sat, Sep 13, 2008 Internet

Keeping my finger on the pulse of Buenos Aires culture here's a clip of Argentinas answer to Oasis/Blur. I love the moves from the dude with the hair (I'm pretty sure he is the only actually with hair). It's actually quite a beautiful piece of music.

August results

Date: Thu, Sep 11, 2008 Internet

I lost a week in August due to illness (my penchant for rare steak + '3rd world' hygiene standards finally caught up with me I think). A throughly standard +$1450 month for this 9-tabling nit. Add to this $350 in bonuses and $450 in rakeback for a total of +$2250. Septembers plan has been to go back to studying the game again, cut down to 4 tables at NL100. Actually thinking about hands/

July Results

Date: Fri, Aug 1, 2008 Internet

Here's my monthly summary for July, slightly confusing as I now have two computers. My old laptop running PokerTracker2, my new sexy desktop Vaio desktop running PokerTracker 2 and 3. For August I'll combine databases and get PT3 running on my laptop. Ladbrokes and Doyles Room (Microgaming network) Ladbrokes uses the microgaming software but doesn't share it's players. The place is an

Worldwide cost of living

Date: Thu, Jul 24, 2008 Internet

Yesterday's press release from human resources firm Mercer comparing the global cost of living across 143 cities worldwide makes fairly interesting reading. The survey compares the cost of over 200 items in each location, including housing, transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment. Buenos Aires came in at a lowly 138th. Ascunicion, Paraguay (where I'm likely heading for some

+$3K/month

Date: Fri, Jul 4, 2008 Internet

Here's the plan for the next 4 weeks or so to net >$3000US at my micro-stakes: 1. VC poker. I am Emerald here so get $75 cash for 15000 of my previously earned loyalty points. I also get a 40% reload upto $150 that'll take me approx 10000 hands to clear. 2. Ladbrokes poker. A $500 signup bonus plus 25% rakeback for clearing this in one month. Checking the promtions page I see they're running

Back to Stars

Date: Wed, Jul 2, 2008 Internet

Poker Stars are running a double-points promo all week, I've got a $120 bonus from April to clear there, so now's the best time do it. I always seem to run well at Stars, today was no exception: I'm done caring about my VPIP stats etc, and am focusing on playing against retards. 50K hand month here I come....

Meh June

Date: Tue, Jul 1, 2008 Internet

I managed a pathetic 11200 hands in June. The combination of running badly, some internet problems, tilt-induced bad play and mediocre table selection curbed my enthusiasm for the game significantly. To ease the pain I earned $550 in rakeback and bonuses for a net -$212 month poker-wise. For the last few days of the month I returned to the comfort of mindless blackjack bonus-whoring, netting

Time away from the tables

Date: Thu, Jun 19, 2008 Internet

I haven't played a hand of poker for over a week, a sick run of cards at the beginning of the month resulted an 11 buyin downswing. Pretty standard stuff but enough to a) put me on tilt, and b) remind me I'm still, at best, an average No-Limit player. Most of my play had been on the Ipoker network, so whilst I try and improve my game via cardrunners.com and stoxpoker.com I've downloaded

Mauritius for the Perpetual Traveller?

Date: Thu, Jun 12, 2008 Internet

I posted a while ago that I wasn't sure what to during the next few winter months. One of the options was to head to The Mauritius for a couple of months, I'd been turned on to this island republic several months ago after reading this BBC article, specifically this: Also available is a wireless solution which needs no mobile or even landline. You can buy a modem which uses the emerging Wimax

Beautiful cities

Date: Sat, Jun 7, 2008 Internet

Travellersdigest.com just published a Top Ten Cities with the most beautiful women list. Buenos Aires took 3rd. Sadly I've only visited 4 cities on the list. L.A taking 5th spot is somewhat bemusing, and the beauty quotient in Amsterdam was pretty average (from what I remember: my week there was a bit of a blur). Friends have comfirmed the travelersdigest.com winner Stockholm is totty-tastic.
