A wonk is a slang term for a person who is obsessive about a topic -- in this case Poker! It has traditionally been used in the political arena, such as a "policy wonk", etc.
It is easy and free to become a blogger. Go to a site, like Blogger.com, and you can setup a new blog in literally minutes. Once you have your blog setup, register at Pokerwonks in just one minute and your blog entries will now be displayed.
We aim to be the most comprehensive listing of poker blogs on the web. If you love poker blogs, at Poker Wonks you can use our ‘Wonk it” feature to customize your Poker Wonks home page to your favorite poker blogs. If you love poker, play poker or love to write about your poker and life, please feel free to submit your blog here.
There are several ways to sort and search the blogs. The home page defaults to those blogs which allow us to post the full blog
entries. Some bloggers only allow us to post summaries of their blog entries. Selecting 'Summary' in the left column will display
those blogs. If you are a wonk interested in reaching a wider audience, you are encouraged to setup your RSS feed to display full blog entries.
Also in the left column, you can also sort the blogs by categories to find bloggers in your area of interest.
Blogs are listed in order of the most recent posts.
If you are looking for a specific blogger or search term, you can search the database with key words by using the
Search for an Article tab at the top of the home page.
For Blogspot users, go into Settings, select Site Feed tab, and then set Allow Blog Feed to "Full". If you have this set on
"Short" your blog entries will show only the first paragraph or 255 characters, whichever is shorter. At PokerWonks, we default
Full blogs to the homepage, so you will get more readers by showing Full blogs.
Bloggers other than Blogspot should find similar settings to distinguish between Full or Short feeds.
All that is required is that your blog provide an RSS feed.
Once your blog is submitted at Pokerwonks, it will go through an approval process which generally takes 24-48 hours. We only approve blogs which have poker-related content. We will also reject blogs which have content deemed offensive.
The chip represents a way to rate the blog entry you've read. You can only vote by logging in, and you may only vote once per entry. If you like an entry, simply click the plus (giving it 1 chip). If you don't like it, click the minus. No opinion? Don't do anything.
Due to the tremendous amount of data being retrieved by Poker Wonks, the site is only updated once every couple of hours. If you make a change to your blog, expect some delay before seeing it at Poker Wonks.
